“Your Friendly Experts in Thermally Modified Wood.”

Bob Lennon serves as the President of ThermalWood Canada, where he works closely with the Sales and Marketing team to ensure that every initiative aligns with the company’s corporate vision. In addition to his leadership role, Bob is actively involved in high-level discussions surrounding production scheduling, operational challenges, cost accounting, government relations, and overall organizational growth. His hands-on approach and strategic oversight have been instrumental in guiding ThermalWood Canada’s evolution as a leader in thermally modified wood products.
A graduate of the University of New Brunswick with a degree in Civil Engineering (Class of 1975), Bob spent 36 years in the mining industry in both operations and management before co-founding ThermalWood Canada with his business partner, Pierre. Over the years, he has also served as the company’s International Marketing and Sales Director, building relationships with partners around the world. Even today, Bob continues to collaborate with executives across industries, helping organizations strengthen their workplace culture and improve communication.
As one of the company’s founders, Bob takes great pride in seeing the business grow every day. He thrives on the challenges that come with entrepreneurship, viewing each new day as an opportunity to uncover new possibilities and “hidden gems.”
Outside of work, Bob and his wife enjoy an active lifestyle. In the summer months, they can often be found relaxing at their cottage or riding their motorcycles, while winter brings opportunities to travel or carve down snowy mountains on their snowboards.
With nearly four decades of experience in the wood industry, Pierre Friolet is a true master of his craft. From operating and maintaining every type of equipment—fixed or mobile—to pioneering the thermal modification process at ThermalWood Canada, Pierre’s hands-on knowledge is unmatched. Since co-founding the company in 2008, he has been the creative force behind the development of thermal modification “recipes” for a wide range of wood species, shaping the quality and consistency that define the brand today.
Before launching ThermalWood Canada, Pierre built his career at the front end of the wood supply chain, harvesting logs and gaining a deep understanding of the material from forest to finish. His talents don’t stop at industrial innovation—Pierre is also a gifted furniture maker, crafting custom pieces that reflect his precision and artistry.
Outside the workshop, Pierre is just as passionate in the kitchen. Whether he’s baking cakes, preparing gourmet meals at the cottage, or firing up the grill, he brings the same care and creativity to his cooking as he does to his woodwork. And when he’s not cooking wood or cuisine, you might just find him chasing the open road on his motorcycle.

Wearing many hats at ThermalWood Canada, Jonathan Lennon plays an essential role in keeping the company’s operations running smoothly. He oversees several of ThermalWood’s core systems, including inventory, sales, and accounting, ensuring that every detail is entered accurately and efficiently. As the company’s bookkeeper and accountant, he manages accounts payable and receivable, processes work orders for the production floor, and coordinates shipments to clients around the world — handling everything from logistics to detailed customs documentation.
Beyond the numbers, Jonathan is also an integral part of ThermalWood’s sales and marketing efforts. He serves as the official videographer and editor for The Northern Heat Report and produces most of the company’s video content, occasionally stepping behind the camera as photographer. He also manages several existing sales accounts and connects with new customers whenever time allows.
A graduate of the University of New Brunswick with a Bachelor of Business Administration (concentration in Marketing), Jonathan first joined ThermalWood in 2008 when the company was just starting up — a small, tight-knit team of five. After a few challenging early years working alongside family in a high-pressure startup environment, he decided to gain experience elsewhere, taking on various sales roles in insurance, automotive, and industrial supply. In 2013, he returned to ThermalWood to manage the company’s social media presence and has since taken on a much broader range of responsibilities, becoming a cornerstone of the company’s operations today.
For Jonathan, the most rewarding part of his job is being part of a family business. While it can come with its challenges, he believes the sense of pride and shared purpose makes every success even more meaningful. “At the end of the day, it’s well worth it,” he says.
Outside of work, Jonathan describes himself as a homebody who enjoys spending time with his wife and pets. He’s happiest outdoors — whether gardening, camping, or exploring the woods. In the winter, he’s often found snowboarding or snowshoeing, while summer brings mountain biking, softball, and a growing love for golf.
As Project Manager for ThermalWood Canada’s IronBark Decking and Siding lines, Jason Martell plays a key role in helping customers bring their visions to life. He works closely with residential clients, contractors, and designers around the world—guiding projects from concept to completion and ensuring every detail reflects the company’s commitment to quality. Jason’s approachable nature and deep understanding of the building industry make him a trusted partner for anyone working with ThermalWood Canada’s innovative products.
Jason graduated from the University of Prince Edward Island in 1996 before embarking on a long and successful career in retail management. Over the course of 27 years with Staples Canada and earlier with a smaller independent company, he built extensive experience in sales, operations, and marketing—skills that now serve him well in managing diverse projects and client relationships.
What Jason values most about working at ThermalWood Canada is the combination of craftsmanship and collaboration. He’s proud to be part of a small, family-owned company producing a world-class product, where agility and teamwork allow the team to adapt quickly to customer needs and deliver exceptional results.
Outside of work, Jason enjoys spending time with his wife, Megan, and their son, Finn—along with their two lively miniature dachshunds. Music also plays a major role in his life: he’s a member of the band Raglan Road, which performs across Canada and beyond, blending his professional precision with creative passion.

As ThermalWood Canada’s Brand Strategist, Eric Johnson brings creativity, storytelling, and strategy together to shape how the company connects with audiences around the world. A graduate of St. Thomas University in Fredericton, NB (Class of 2016), where he studied Communications and Journalism, Eric’s journey to ThermalWood has been anything but linear. After university, he worked in several different fields — from CN Rail to a local sawmill — before finding a home in journalism with The Northern Light. Though that role was short-lived due to industry-wide layoffs, it became a pivotal moment in his career: it was there that he first met ThermalWood Canada CEO, Robert Lennon.
On a whim, Eric reached out to Bob to ask if he knew anyone looking for a marketing professional or journalist — and the answer came quickly: “Come to ThermalWood.”
Since joining the team, Eric has helped transform ThermalWood’s brand presence and communication strategy. Alongside his wife, Morgan, he manages the company’s social media channels — Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and YouTube — and continues to expand ThermalWood’s storytelling footprint. He created the written edition of The Northern Heat Report to complement its video counterpart, allowing the company to spotlight even more local stories and community initiatives. He also serves as the editor and writer of ThermalWood Digest, the first digital magazine dedicated entirely to thermally modified wood.
In addition to his work in communications, Eric is the project manager for Obsidian Ebony, ThermalWood’s innovative real-wood alternative to ebony, and oversees the company’s e-commerce shop and local client relations. His hands-on approach and passion for creative problem-solving have made him a key part of ThermalWood’s growth and identity.
For Eric, the best part of the job is the people. “I get to work with a team I genuinely consider friends,” he says. “After years in jobs that didn’t feel fulfilling, it’s great to be part of something that matters — and to feel like a valued member of a growing team.”
Outside of work, Eric enjoys spending time with his wife and their two children. He’s also a published author of two books and a musician who finds joy in writing and playing guitar.
